November-January Meeting Reports

Sorry it's been a while since I've updated this...

Treasure Seekers met on November 5, 2010.

We started our 4H day with our group projects. We have some wonderful leaders who are helping us learn new skills, and we are very grateful that they are willing to help us in our different projects.

After we finished with our group projects, we went outside to enjoy our recreation time. The younger members enjoyed games of jump rope while older members had a blast playing kick-ball together.

Our business meeting was fairly uneventful. We discussed announcements made by the moms; the club members also heard and approved the secretary report and the treasurer report.

Treasure Seekers’ next meeting is December 6, 2010.

Treasure Seekers met on December 6, 2010.

The 4H day began with the various group activities (tennis, cartooning, arts/crafts and quilting) available to our club members. All the members are enjoying their groups and are learning much from their leaders.

During the business meeting, a new secretary was elected. Caleb Crawford had been serving as the club secretary, but due to conflicting schedules, he had to give up this position. Rachel Sickenburger was elected as the new club secretary. The rest of the business meeting was spent discussing the various announcements that were made and going over the secretary and treasurer’s report.

Treasure Seekers’ next meeting date is January 10, 2011.

On January 10, 2011, Treasure Seekers met for the first time in the New Year!

Our 4H-meeting day began with our group projects. In cartooning, we worked with simple lines and shapes to work on a cartoon drawing of a cat. Cartooning students were encouraged to look up the “Calvin and Hobbes” comic strip and instructed to create their own comic strip to bring and share at the next meeting. In arts and crafts, club members enjoyed making bracelets with colorful beads. In tennis, club members continue to learn tennis basics that will help them do well as the play. Members in quilting class are enjoying themselves as they work with beautiful fabrics to make different projects such as throw pillows.

During the business meeting, a new president was elected. Josiah Stallings has been serving as president this year, but since he is unable to attend club meetings anymore, Treasure Seekers was in need of a new president. Rachel Crawford was elected.

After the business meeting, the Community Service Committee met and discussed different projects the club could do in service to our community. Members of the committee had many good ideas, 3 of which will be presented next month to the entire club so we can choose one to work on.

Treasure Seekers’ next meeting date is February 7, 2011.
